February might be the month of love, but we're jumping into the dark side this week when it comes to Star Wars comics (unless you love Adam Driver). We are getting one new title kicking off a series that's been highly anticipated for some time. This is sort of the theme for February. While there are only six comic book issues coming out this month, there are some major titles in the mix.
I'm getting ahead of myself with the other weeks. For now, let's look at the one book.
This Week in Star Wars Comics, it's Legacy of Vader #1 for all of your Kylo Ren goodness.
With The Battle of Jakku comic book event complete, several of the main Star Wars comic titles are moving into a post-Return of the Jedi and sequel trilogy era. It makes sense, with The Force Awakens turning ten years old in December, that there is extra focus on this time period. This week's comic, Legacy of Vader #1 is no exception.
Set after the events of The Last Jedi, Supreme Leader Kylo Ren seeks out answers to lock in his power as leader of the First Order. A dark side-driven obsession pushes him to seek out the path of his grandfather, Darth Vader. This leads him to Mustafar and Fortress Vader. However, someone greets him to guide him on this quest. I will say that if you are a fan of the Vader's Castle comics, you're in for a great time.
Legacy of Vader #1 sees the return of Charles Soule writing the character after his stint on the 2019 The Rise of Kylo Ren miniseries. The illustrator is one of my personal favorite artists Luke Ross with the cover artist being Derrick Chew. It's also Black History Month so the major Marvel titles will all have special variant covers too. For this issue, the variant cover features Mother Aniseya from The Acolyte by Karen S. Darboe.
That's it for this edition of This Week in Star Wars Comics! See you in the splash pages!
