Star Wars: Uprising Gameplay Video Shows Rebels Rising
By Elaine Tveit
A video of some of the gameplay for Star Wars: Uprising, a mobile game coming in September, shows the state of the galaxy after the events of Return of the Jedi, and how the Empire may have a teeny weeny problem on their hands: namely, rebels shooting at them.
Check out the video below.
Players will be able to create their own characters, as well as team up with their friends against the Empire as they go from mission to mission on old and new worlds, including Hoth and Cloud City (according to a press release). In addition, this will be the first game to take fans deep into the canon era beyond Return of the Jedi, which is something like what we’ve been clamoring for ever since we heard that a seventh Star Wars movie was going to be made.

Its September release date coincides with the release of several new canon Star Wars books and comics, including Aftermath by Chuck Wendig and Shattered Empire #1. If you feel like you’re in the Tatooine (or perhaps Jakku) desert, dry and thirsting for more hints for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, September will be the well in the wilderness.

Initially, I hadn’t planned on playing this game, as I’m not really an avid video game player anymore. But there’s still a part of me that’s a sucker for the ability to customize my own character (though I haven’t succumbed to The Old Republic, yet). And on a more practical side: if there’s an overarching canon storyline, what better way to discover it than by playing the game myself?
If you feel like taking on the whole Empire yourself, then download Star Wars: Uprising when it is released in September! Stay tuned to Dork Side for a more definite date.
