Disney CEO Bob Iger Has Seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens

In an interview with CNBC about the possibility of selling ESPN one day, Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger, revealed that he has already seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

"“I’ve seen the film without most of its special effects and without most of its music,” Iger said. “I can’t wait for the world to see it.”"

There are still a little less than five months for JJ Abrams and co. to finish up production on Episode VII, so it doesn’t surprise me that the film is far from being completely finished. But still, I would be ecstatic to just be able to watch raw footage of The Force Awakens. The special effects and music would just be the frosting and the cherry on top of the cake for me.

Of course, as Jason Ward of Making Star Wars points out, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is basically Bob Iger’s movie (being that he is the CEO of the company financing and marketing it), so naturally he is going to encourage viewers to be excited about it with every chance he gets. But, at the same time, if Iger didn’t think that The Force Awakens was any good or that it wouldn’t be a success, he may not have gone so far as to say that he “can’t wait for the world to see it.” Or maybe he would have; I’m sure his main goal is to make the movie a financial success, whether he personally likes it or not.

But, regardless, I don’t think there’s any doubt in anyone’s mind that this movie is going to be a financial success. So when Bob Iger says that he can’t wait for the world to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens, I think he means it.

Special thanks to Making Star Wars for bringing Iger’s quote to our attention.
