One of my favorite Star Wars games is the original Star Wars Battlefront, and with this new version mixing in what is supposed to be an unstoppable Boba Fett, it makes my toes curl in excitement.

More from Star Wars Video Games

According to the makers of the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront, EA, Fett will be designed to make all encounters hostile. According to EA, “Boba Fett is designed to be a dreaded force in battle. His mobility and a deadly cache of weaponry should send you fleeing if you see him on the battlefront.”

Looking at Fett’s weapons, it seems as though his design recalls the gadget mastermind “Q” from the James Bond franchise. He has his usual jetpacks that allow him to have mobility, while his EE-3 Carbine Rifle will give him the ability to snipe any on-comer who is not paying attention.

When Fett needs to attack long-range, he can use his wrist launcher, which comes equipped with a rocket launcher. On the other wrist is his flamethrower, for those confrontations that get closely heated.

The other aspect of the character the game makers are not straying too far from is his character on the screen.

"“As originally portrayed in the films, Boba Fett has a wealth of gadgets at his disposal but we only see him use a fraction of these in the films. There’s much more than the jetpack and blaster rifle going on. Boba Fett’s got a disintegrator pistol, a flame pack in one arm, rockets, dart launchers, and even lasers. So there was a lot to choose from before we wound up with the final loadout.”"

It sounds like I will enjoy playing as one of my favorite characters from the Star Wars films. Flying around and being able to attack from the ground or air gives anyone an extreme advantage and makes them very powerful in combat. The mobility to attack from air or land can give the upper hand against any ground-based fighter.

Then I realized game developer DICE made sure I didn’t have a complete advantage.  DICE Senior Producer Jamie Keen explains:

"“For instance, when Boba Fett was facing off with Luke Skywalker in early development, it was unbalanced as there were no limitations placed on his flight capability. That’s why we’ve added a fuel mechanic which forces Boba Fett to land from time to time before he can take off again.”"

The danger here is that by having fuel regulators, you can be doing an extreme amount of damage in the air, but if you’re not careful, Fett can land right into the hands of the enemy.

Another aspect that DICE developers added is the combo attack patterns and how to manage the cooldown effects afterward. Keen says:

"“One of the things I enjoy watching is seeing people chain attacks together and using the systems to their best. Managing cooldowns is part of it, too. We’ve seen players coming up with tactics that we haven’t thought about, and that is truly awesome.”"

Nov. 17 is the arrival date for you to try all these exciting aspects included with Boba Fett. Stay tuned as more characters will be revealed as we get closer to when Battlefront goes on sale for Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC.
