New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Footage Coming this Thursday!

Just when we thought we were out, Disney pulls us back in. Just a week removed from an international trailer featuring all new footage from The Force Awakens, and then a television spot featuring even more The Force Awakens footage, it would appear as if Disney’s very own television channel ABC, will produce more of the same…all new The Force Awakens footage. According to ComingSoon.net, ABC has announced that the network will air a new special look at Star Wars: The Force Awakens, this Thursday night. The new The Force Awakens footage will be hosted by the casts of ABC’s Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, and How to Get Away with Murder, as part of the network’s TGIT.

Here’s the Tweet from showrunner Shonda Rhimes, announcing the event:

Looks like I may have to set my DVR to record a bunch of shows I never watch…but that’s okay because I’d watch a full season of any of those shows to get at some new The Force Awakens footage…yes, I am fully aware I need help.

I’m actually surprised that Disney is allowing us another look at The Force Awakens, just a month out from the film’s release. For months now, J.J. Abrams has been adamant about keeping the details surrounding the film, under lock and key. And this process has been very much appreciated by Star Wars fans who do not wish to be overly spoiled by too many trailers…an unfortunate practice that seems to plague other Hollywood blockbusters.

Hopefully, this look on ABC will be some brief new shots and will give nothing away in regard to the actual story-arc and plot to The Force Awakens. Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens worldwide in theaters on December 17 and 18.
