Ever since Rey first appeared in the first trailer and promotional art, many fans had an inkling the tough, brown-haired scavenger had more to her than meets the eye. For one thing, she bears a strikingly similar resemblance to both Natalie Portman, who plays Padme Amidala in the prequels, and Carrie Fisher, who, of course, portrays Princess Leia in the original trilogy. Since Leia is Padme’s daughter, and Rey is reminiscent of them both, it logically follows she may be a Solo.
We’ve had hints of Rey’s possible relationship to the Solos from Daisy Ridley herself, though you never can tell for sure what’s true or not, with J.J.’s mystery box closing up the juiciest spoilers. However, Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, did confirm that the Skywalker lineage will continue in The Force Awakens. Combining all this evidence together points to one heir to that lineage: A girl who was inexplicably dumped on Jakku when she was only a child (much like another boy on another desert planet, some thirty-odd years before…).
