The Force Awakens: Andy Serkis Confirms He’s Playing Evil Jar Jar

In an interview with Conan O’Brian, Andy Serkis confirmed he’s really playing Jar Jar Binks in The Force Awakens.

While speaking with Conan O’Brian on the comedian’s self titled show on TBS, Andy Serkis cheekily confirmed his character in The Force Awakens, Supreme Leader Snoke, is familiar in a way we hadn’t imagined (via Comicbook).

He does a pretty good impression of an evil Jar Jar Binks. Maybe he could portray the hapless Gungan in a spinoff, or even in Episodes VIII or XI. After all, creepy dark side lords like Snoke are a dime-a-dozen. Serkis needs something more challenging.

It’s long been speculated that Supreme Leader Snoke is, in fact, Darth Plagueis, the dark side master of Emperor Palpatine and the being at least partially responsible for the creation of Anakin Skywalker. In James Luceno’s Darth Plagueis, a novel which is now considered non-canon (at least until the Lucasfilm story group says otherwise), the Sith lord was said to be a Muun: a tall, thin creature with an alien face structure unable to be achieved through practical effects.

Sounds awfully similar to another creature we all know and love…

Of course, for those of you who may be trembling with fear that this might actually, somehow, inexplicably be true, have no fear. Though you could argue all the descriptions of Snoke we’ve gotten so far from interviews with Serkis, being 7 feet tall and having an odd face structure does not a Gungan make. There are plenty of aliens who could fit that description.
