Daisy Ridley turned heads on the Oscars red carpet Sunday night, and she had some fun things to say about filming scenes with Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) for Star Wars: Episode VIII, including how cool Luke is in this film…

More from Dork Side of the Force

Daisy Ridley was interviewed by MTV, as she made her way down the Oscars red carpet on Sunday night, and she had some great news for fans of Star Wars: Luke will be so much more cooler in Star Wars: Episode VIII than he was in The Force Awakens...I’m assuming she means more screen time. Because MTV doesn’t allow embedding of their video, you can click this link to watch their interview with Daisy Ridley.

"“It’s such a good story. Seriously. Luke is so cool in this one. Really.”"

First, Ridley does in fact confirm something we already were aware of, and that is that Star Wars: Episode VIII will pick up right where Episode VII left off, making it the first Star Wars film to do so. Ridley talked about her and Hamill rehearsing their lines together, which must be very exciting, seeing as how the only screen-time they shared in The Force Awakens was the finale.

"“Me and Mark have been rehearsing a lot, and it’s really amazing. When we went back to Skellig to do the opening of [Episode] VIII, it was so crazy doing the same scene with a different crew of people. He’s amazing to rehearse with, and I’m very excited to be doing the rest of the stuff.”"

Sounds like Hamill and Ridley as Luke and Rey will be spending a significant amount of time together in Star Wars: Episode VIII, and hopefully Ridley is alluding to her character’s training in the ways of the Jedi. Daisy Ridley should be in Dubrovnik, Croatia, in March to begin filming scenes there, but there has been no word yet, as to if Hamill will be joining her. The scene description is Rey being chased down the street, so either she is on the run from the First Order, or something else has happened…I guess we will have to wait and find out!
