A dance group dressed as stormtroopers got the Golden Buzzer to send them straight to the finale of Britain’s Got Talent.

The power of Star Wars permeates all types of media, including talent shows. On the latest episode of Britain’s Got Talent, judge Simon Cowell gave a group of dancing stormtroopers the Golden Buzzer: an option given to every judge to send one act all the way to the finals, meaning that act won’t be culled out in the judging beforehand.

"“The dark side has taken over.”"

Simon Cowell is known for being a harsh judge, so it’s more than a little surprising that he would use his turn to smack the Golden Buzzer for a stormtrooper dance group. But the truth it, Cowell had been wishing for just such an act to liven things up on the show. In his own words, “My dream has come true.”

"“No surprise that the real life Darth Vader voted for his troops.”"

Real talk: While they’re exceptional dancers, I fail to see how Boogie Down is any different from any other dance group, save for the fact they wear stormtrooper outfits. The only reason they seem to have been advanced to the finals is because of those outfits. I do congratulate them, however, on appealing to the audience with something that is very popular right now, which is Star Wars. That appeal might even make them the winners of Britain’s Got Talent.
