By Elaine Tveit
New York Comic Con is this weekend, and we have made a list of all the Star Wars panels to look forward to, which include a writers’ roundtable and Hasbro.
New York Comic Con is this weekend, and as always Star Wars is making an appearance.
There will be three Star Wars-themed panels: a writers’ roundtable; a panel exploring the scientific possibilities of the galaxy far, far away in the real world; and a Hasbro Star Wars panel giving fans a closer look at the new line of Rogue One toys.
Below is a comprehensive list of the panels in order of date and time, and including their descriptions from the official NYCC website.
Hasbro Star Wars
Thursday, October 6th 12:15 pm – 1:15 pm
"“Join members of the Hasbro Star Wars team as they discuss the ever popular Hasbro Star Wars line that hit shelves this fall! Attendees will get an in-depth look at Hasbro’s latest action figure offerings with a look at new product coming later this year.”"
Star Wars Presents: A Writers Roundtable
Friday, October 7th 11:00 am – 12:00 pm EST
"“Some of the biggest and best Star Wars authors such as Timothy Zahn (Heir to the Empire, Thrawn), Chuck Wendig (Aftermath, Life Debt), Jim Luceno (Tarkin, Catalyst), E.K. Johnston (Ahsoka), and Charles Soule (Lando, Obi-Wan & Anakin, Poe Dameron), will be on hand to discuss their approach, process, and reception to writing stories set in a galaxy far, far away. Plus, exclusive sneak peeks into the future of Star Wars publishing, and more! Moderated by Lucasfilm’s Michael Siglain and Jennifer Heddle.”"
Star Wars: The Science Awakens
Saturday, October 8th 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm EST
"“Could Lightsabers ever be a reality? Which Star Wars Droid would NASA take into space? What would it take to resist the Dark Side in real life? Kim Steadman (NASA Mars Curiosity), Kieran Dickson (editor, Outerplaces.com), Aaron Sagers (Blastr) and Travis Langley (editor, Star Wars Psychology), as they break down the science behind a galaxy far far away and discuss whether or not Kylo Ren’s Force Awakens Lightsaber is genius or sacrilege.”"

The most exciting panels will undoubtedly be the Hasbro Star Wars panel and the Writers Roundtable. Both panels are promising sneak peeks of future projects in Star Wars books, comics, and toys. Moreover, the Writers Roundtable features three authors – Timothy Zahn, James Luceno, and E.K. Johnston – who are each releasing a new Star Wars book in the near future. Through this panel, we may learn more about Zahn’s Thrawn novel (April 2017), Luceno’s Rogue One: Catalyst (November 15th, 2016), and Johnston’s Ahsoka (October 11th, 2016). NYCC 2016 has the potential to be an exciting time for Star Wars news.
