Instant Reaction to the Final Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Trailer
The last Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer aired this morning, and we’re here to talk about everything that happened, in our instant reaction…
Rejoice, Star Wars fans, because the final theatrical trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story just dropped on YouTube, and we are still trying to pick our jaws up off the floor. This trailer covered so much that we have had to watch it several times, just to take it all in, and we still will be watching it over, and over, and over…you get the point. Here it is:
Okay, so let’s get right into our instant reaction to this last Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer. First off, I love that we got more of Mads Mikkelsen’s Galen Erso in that little flashback, which showed him comforting a young Jyn Erso. There’s also the fantastic staredown between Galen and Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn), not once, but twice.

Of course, the real chills kicked in when Academy Award winning actor, Forest Whitaker showed up on screen, as The Clone Wars hero and freedom fighter, Saw Gerrera. I totally dig the fact that we got a shot of Saw’s robotic leg, and his life-sustaining armor. His final words in the trailer, “Save the Rebellion! Save the dream,” gave us the real chills.
Then there’s Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) taking the lead of the Rebels attempting to steal the plans to the Death Star. It’s great to see a strong female lead in a Star Wars film, much like Daisy Ridley in The Force Awakens. I love how Jyn rallies the team, as Donnie Yen’s character, Chirrut Îmwe, smiles with approval.

Finally, the plethora of action shots, in this trailer, was fantastic. Not only did we get the usual Rebels vs the Empire battle (Chirrut Îmwe and Baze Malbus clearing out a squad of Stormtroopers), but we got actual space battle, with a squadron of X-Wings fighting through either the Death Star or some other Imperial space station.
We absolutely loved this final theatrical Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer, and cannot wait until the movie hits theaters worldwide, on December 16.
