If you’ve been reading Marvel Star Wars: Darth Vader, then you are familiar with the character of Doctor Aphra. If you were worried you had seen the last of the quirky doctor once the last issue of Darth Vader was through, worry no more, as Marvel Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #1 is coming to store this December…

Marvel Star Wars has officially announced that Doctor Aphra is getting her own comic run, starting this December. Following the finale of Darth Vader #25, Aphra begins a new journey in Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #1From Darth Vader writer Kieron Gillen, and Marvel Zombies artist Kev Walker comes an ongoing series starring an original character created in the Marvel comics.

Writer Kieron Gillen, had this to say in an interview with StarWars.com:

"“What I wanted to do was show what makes Aphra tick. That’s the work I feel I’ve got to do with the character, and that kind of push and pull she has between the stuff she does, which is good and bad.”"

As you may know, from the end of Darth Vader #25, Doctor Aphra barely escaped Vader’s clutches with her life. Now she has to stay on the run and off the Dark Lord of the Sith’s radar, for If he ever learns of her survival, he’ll mercilessly hunt her down, and there will be nowhere she can hide.

For now, however, Aphra along with fan-favorite droids, 0-0-0 and BT-1, returns to what they do best: Searching out rare artifacts from the galactic center of the galaxy, to the Outer Rim, and everywhere in between. As long as Aphra can stay one step ahead of the Empire, the Bounty Hunters hot on her trail, she’ll make for an excellent featured character in Star Wars: Doctor Aphra.
