The Star Wars Show Recap: Rogue One Standees at IMAX and More
On this week’s episode of The Star Wars Show, IMAX teased a big announcement, and the author of Ahsoka was interviewed…
StarWars.com released its weekly episode of The Star Wars Show, yesterday, and as promised, IMAX had a Rogue One reveal. Sadly, it was not what Star Wars fans were expecting, as many were hoping for an announcement of when Rogue One: A Star Wars Story tickets would go on sale, but it was neat, nevertheless. Here’s the show:
First up, Star Wars: Ahsoka hit #1 on the New York Times best-seller list for young adults. Our own Assistant Editor, Elaine, wrote her review of the novel, which you can read here. The author of Ahsoka, E.K. Johnston stopped by the show to talk about her experiences with the book.
But more interestingly, and probably the reason most Star Wars fans anxiously tuned into the show, was the IMAX Rogue One announcement.
The IMAX standees will be on display at IMAX theaters across the country, and they will include hidden messages in Aurebesh. Star Wars fans will have a chance to win a trip to Los Angeles for a private IMAX screening of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, by simply taking a selfie in front of one of the Rogue One standees, then uploading the photo to Twitter using the hashtag #RogueIMAXSweeps. Here’s a link to the rules of the contest.

According to website Comicbook.com, these are the hidden messages in Aurebesh:
K-2SO: “BEAT BACK THE REBELS”
CHIRRUT ÎMWE: “JOIN THE EMPIRE”
JYN ERSO: “SUBMIT TO OUR WILL”
CASSIAN ANDOR: “ALL POWER TO THE EMPIRE”
BAZE MALBUS: “CRUSH THE REBELLION IN ONE SWIFT STROKE”
“THIS STATION IS THE ULTIMATE POWER IN THE UNIVERSE”
BOHDI ROOK: “THERE WILL BE NO ONE TO STOP US THIS TIME.”
While on the surface, these seem like messages no self-respecting Rebel would utter, they could also be coded messages that will be used by Jyn Erso’s team as they try and infiltrate the Death Star or other Imperial bases.
