Cinematographer Bradford Young Says Han Solo Film Will be Unexpected

The not yet titled Han Solo standalone Star Wars film still has a while to go until it makes its theatrical debut, but that hasn’t stopped acclaimed cinematographer Bradford Young from making some interesting comments about the film…

When it was announced that cinematographer Bradford Young was joining directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord on the second Star Wars standalone film, Han Solo, Star Wars fans were very excited. We haven’t heard much from Young since then, but recently, the acclaimed cinematographer spoke with Collider and made some exciting remarks about the direction in which Lord and Miller are taking the film.

"“These cats are subversive, don’t let it fool you (laughs). They are prepared to say exactly what they wanna say and it’s complex, it’s layered, it’s smart, it’s visual, it’s dramatic, it’s funny, it’s uneasy, it’s unexpected. These cats are—I’m honored to have them in the list of directors I’ve worked with, that’s for sure.”"

As a Star Wars fan who is cautiously excited about an origin story for Han Solo, reading words like “Complex,” “Layered,” “Smart,” “Visual,” and “Unexpected,” really makes me very excited for May 25, 2018, when Han Solo is slated to hit theaters worldwide.

More from Dork Side of the Force

Actor Alden Ehrenreich has been cast as Han Solo, and recently actor Donald Glover was cast for the role of Lando Calrissian. So, now we wait and see if Chewbacca comes into play in this film (I mean, he’s got to be in the film, right?). And then, of course, the question becomes: How many other iconic Star Wars characters will be featured at some point, in the Han Solo film? I guess we will have plenty of time to wait and find out.
