Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Will Reportedly Not Have an Opening Crawl

It’s been a question among Star Wars fans for a while now, but according to a trusted Star Wars news site, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will not have an opening crawl…

The opening crawl has become an iconic gateway into every Star Wars film since Star Wars: A New Hope in 1977. However, according to trusted Star Wars news site, Star Wars News Net, who tweeted the news, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be the first Star Wars film to not have an opening crawl.

"A source that we fully trust confirmed to us that #RogueOne will not have an opening crawl. It opens in a way different than the classic SW."

SWNN went on to say, in their piece, that Star Wars fans will need to expect something very different for Rogue One:

"Our source was crystal clear that the film “does not” use the traditional Star Wars crawl and that the film’s introduction of the story to the audience differs from the classic films in the series."

This suggests that the opening will be different that what we Star Wars fans are traditionally used to. Now, as I can attest, Star Wars News Net is a very trusted site and if they are saying they trust their source, then you might as well count it good as gold.

Personally, I am fine with Rogue One not having the traditional opening crawl. While yes, I love the traditions of the Original Trilogy, I also loved a great many things about the Prequel Trilogy, and that’s because Star Wars had evolved with those films….the same goes for The Force Awakens. I have every bit of faith in Gareth Edwards and trust that he will bring the best product to the screen, for the very first standalone
