Star Wars Rebels Hints at Maul’s Return (Video)

It has been a few episodes since everyone’s favorite former Sith Lord, Maul, has shown his face on Star Wars Rebels. Well, thanks to a new video from Disney XD, we now have a hint that Maul will be returning to Rebels soon…

The last time Maul was on Star Wars Rebels, this season, was for Episode 3, “Holocrons of Fate.” In that episode, Kanan and Ezra are lured to the Ghost by Maul, who has captured the ship and its crew, including Hera, Zeb, Sabine, and Chopper. Maul wanted the Sith Holocron that Kanan had given to the Bendu, as he wanted to combine it with the Jedi Holocron that Ezra had hidden among his things, in his room.

Kanan and Ezra agree to give Maul both the Sith and Jedi Holocrons, because Maul threatens to kill the rest of the crew of the Ghost, if they do not. Kanan and Ezra then meet with Maul, and while Kanan rescues the crew of the Ghost, Maul and Ezra combine the Holocrons. Kanan somehow is able to interrupt the ritual, but Maul escapes, muttering to himself, “he is still alive.” Ezra received visions as well, and they were of a place with twin suns, which is an obvious clue that connects to Maul’s vision, to Ben Kenobi and Luke on Tatooine.

Now that you’re all caught up, here’s the new video from Disney XD, Lightsaber:

Kanan’s voice:

"“The weapon of a Jedi Knight; wielded with patience and control. Choose to fight as a last resort. But beware anger and fear…”"

Maul’s voice:

"“They will give you power!”"

This is as strong of a hint of Maul’s return to Star Wars Rebels as we are going to get…unless you count the recently leaked Rebels Season 3 episode titles. Thanks to website Jedi Bibliothek, we have a look at Episode 11, which is titled “Visions and Voices.” Here’s the synopsis: (H/T Star Wars Underworld)

"Haunted by visions of Maul, Ezra has to journey across the galaxy. Upon arriving at his destination, he has to participate in a strange ritual to sever his connection to Maul."

So, while Disney XD is releasing this teaser for Maul’s eventual return, it looks like we may not seem him again until Episode 11. Star Wars Rebels returns this Saturday, on Disney XD, at 7:30 pm CST.
