Watch New Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Television Spot “Dream”

Saw Gerrera wants to save “the dream” and Jyn tries to inspire the rebels in a new television spot for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Less than a month out from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the television spots just keep coming.
The newest television spot is titled “Dream” and focuses on Jyn Erso and Saw Gerrera urging the rebellion to fight the Empire, despite the odds. There is little in the way of new footage, but there are a couple of new lines of dialogue to hear.

With each new bit of footage released, Jyn Erso is being further established as a leader within the Rebellion. Unlike some of the other rebel leaders, like the one who asks “What chance do we have?” Jyn is adamant that there is still hope for their cause: instead of asking, “What chance do we have?” she asks, “What choice do we have?”

Later in “Dream,” Saw Gerrera is heard saying, “Save the rebellion! Save the dream!” With the line, “Save the dream!” Rogue One touches a very real life aspect of war making. Earth’s history is replete with rebellions which tapped into the “dreams” of everyday people for a better future. The concept of a “dream” brings Star Wars back down to the level of the individual and humanizes the Rebel Alliance’s cause. The Empire really is an oppressive force in the galaxy; millions of people’s lives will change for the better when the Alliance finally defeats them.
Speaking of Saw Gerrera, his quote sounds an awful lot like an epic final speech. He sounds like he is urging someone – Jyn, likely – to carry on the rebellion and the dream for him. It is possible Saw won’t survive this last fight.
