Empire Magazine Digital Edition Brings Us Exclusive New Rogue One Photos And On Set Injuries
By Corey Smith
Less than three weeks from the release of Rogue One, Empire Magazine brings us exclusive photos, and reports of cast members being injured on set. Good times!
We are getting down to mere weeks until the release of Rogue One, and the Lucasfilm/Disney marketing juggernaut is full steam ahead. The latest? Exclusive images and tidbits from Empire Magazine’s digital edition. This info comes from the Spanish fan site Prensa Imperial and is translated from English into Spanish, and back into English just for fun. In other words, excuse any errors.

As you gaze at this wondrous picture of Jyn Erso, consider that while Lucasfilm liked the ideas of spin-offs, initially they were to be much more low budget affairs. Luckily for us, cooler heads prevailed and Rogue One ended up with a budget on par with The Force Awakens. So hooray for more X-Wings and what not.

And while star Felicity Jones might look calm and collected in this shot, Empire (the magazine, not the bad guys) reports Rogue One’s filming was both dangerous and difficult for other actors involved, including Jones. Despite finishing one day of filming bandaged up, Jones told his family it was “just another day of filming.”

Jones was not only one injured on set, as Diego Luna lost part of his cornea during filming some of the movie’s action scenes. Talk about dedication to your craft.

Not to be left out simply because he was wearing a motion capture suit, Alan Tudyk, who plays the droid K-2SO, was reportedly signed on-set pyrotechnics. Apparently, the motion capture suit was not fireproof as well. Slight oversight.

As you take in the splendor of Saw Gerrera, sadly consider that there will be no lightsabers in Rogue One. And last but not least, before we leave you with a pair of droids from the film, Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, confirms that any potential sequel will not be titled Rogue Two. Which of course, no one should be upset about. Rogue Two sounds dumb. Rogue ONE arrives in theaters December 16th.
