Watch an all-new Rogue One TV Spot: “Surrender”
Another day, another all-new Rogue One TV spot. On Sunday, Lucasfilm released television spot #23 titled “Surrender,” and it shows just how powerful the Empire is…
We are a mere 11 days from the worldwide theatrical premiere of the very first Star Wars standalone film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. December 16 is sure to be the event of the year, as every Star Wars movie premiere should be, and it seems like every day leading up to that premiere has seen a new Rogue One TV spot released from Lucasfilm.
On Sunday, the 23rd Rogue One TV spot was released, and it is titled “Surrender.” As it turns out, the spot is aptly named, as the full might of the Empire is on display, and that weight comes to rest on the shoulders on the leaders of the Rebel Alliance. Check it out:
So this trailer is unique and amazing for a couple of reasons. First off, in just about every Rogue One trailer, teaser, and TV spot we’ve seen, Jyn Erso and company seem to be getting the upper hand on the Empire. In fact, even the other moving parts of the Rebel Alliance seem to be having no problem with the Empire, like the X-Wings moving through the Empire’s space defenses like a hot knife through butter.
However, this Rogue One TV spot is different. It shows Jedha city being blown to bits, as both the Rebels and the Empire, led by Director Orson Krennic watch. The Rebels watch from the planet, Krennic and the Empire from the Death Star.

And then, of course, there’s Mon Mothma saying, “The odds are too great. We need to surrender.” Who would have ever thought those words would have come from the leader of the Rebel Alliance?
