Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes

The critic reviews are all in and have been tabulated by Rotten Tomatoes, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has been certified fresh at 84%…..

When the critic’s reviews for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story started to come in yesterday, many Star Wars fans were justifiably worried that the film would not be certified fresh at Rotten Tomatoes, as the early reviews had the film trending down. At one point, Rogue One had dipped to 78% and even lower before the final reviews came in, pulling the film up to a fresh 84%.

But now, all the worry is gone, and Rogue One is sitting comfortably among the other Star Wars films in the Star Wars cinematic universe, except Phantom Menace, as a certified fresh film. According to Rotten Tomatoes, this is how the critics rated the film:

"Critics Consensus: Rogue One draws deep on Star Wars mythology while breaking new narrative and aesthetic ground — and suggesting a bright blockbuster future for the franchise."

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story received an average rating of 7.5/10, with 160 reviews counted. 134 reviews were fresh, while 26 were rotten. Here’s where Rogue One lands among the previously released Star Wars films:

  • The Phantom Menace: 55%
  • Attack of the Clones: 65%
  • Revenge of the Sith: 79%
  • A New Hope: 93%
  • The Empire Strikes Back: 94%
  • Return of the Jedi: 80%
  • The Force Awakens: 92%
  • Rogue One: 84%

As you can see, Rogue One, where is currently stand in the Rotten Tomatoes ranking, sits behind The Empire Strikes Back at 94%, A New Hope at 93%, and The Force Awakens at 92%. That’s good enough for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to rank as the fourth-highest rated Star Wars film, so far.
