Rogue One’s Felicity Jones to Host Saturday Night Live this Saturday

Rogue One’s Felicity Jones hosts Saturday Night Live this week, yet another benefit of the film’s monster success at the box office.

Who says staring in one of the biggest grossing movies of all time doesn’t have career perks? Well no one says that actually, and Rogue One’s Felicity Jones is the latest Hollywood star in the making to ride the wave of popularity that comes with a successful movie. Case in point, the Rogue One star is set to host the ever popular Saturday Night Live this Saturday, live (in case the name was misleading) on NBC according to TV Guide.

This will mark the first appearance hosting Saturday Night Live for the 33 year old English actress, who has been launched to stardom by her portrayal of Jyn Erso in Rogue One. The last estimate had Rogue One pulling in $914 million dollars worldwide, making it the second highest grossing Star Wars film, right behind last 2015’s The Force Awakens. Jones will be joined by country/Americana artist Sturgill Simpson as the musical quest, a first appearance for the Kentucky born singer as well.

Jones was nominated for an Academy Award for 2015’s The Theory of Everything, and has likewise earned praise for her work in A Monster Calls, but remained a relatively unknown actress to the general public before Rogue One.  Saturday Night Live first began its run in 1975, and has launched the careers of countless comedians over that time span, including the likes of Tina Fey, Bill Murrary, and Seth Meyers.

With Jones’ appearance coming off the success of Rogue One, we will undoubtedly see some Star Wars related sketches. So is it too much to hope we might get The Force Awakens’ Adam Driver to reprise his epic Kylo Ren appearance alongside Jyn Erso? We hope not.
