Watch the first official trailer for the final season of Star Wars Rebels

The first official trailer for Star Wars Rebels season 4 was shown at Star Wars Celebration Orlando….

We always knew it had to end….someday. The Rebel Alliance would finally attack and destroy the original Death Star, lead by a brave young pilot — and Jedi to be — named Luke Skywalker. And when that happened, our favorite group of rebels, the crew of the Ghost from Star Wars Rebels, would fade into the backstory of the galaxy.

Today, during the Star Wars Rebels panel at Star Wars Celebration Orlando, executive producer Dave Filoni revealed the news that season 4 would be the final season. Here’s the trailer:

“It was a simple story about a boy who was lost, and a girl who was broken. They fought alongside a survivor, a war veteran, and a fallen knight.” – Hera Syndulla

Season 4 of Star Wars Rebels, its final season, will see legacy characters like Boba Fett (teased by the voice of Sabine, Tiya Sircar), the return of characters like Rogue One’s Saw Gerrera and Mon Mothma, as well as the canonizing of a Star Wars Expanded Universe character named, Rukh (to be voiced by Star Wars icon Warwick Davis).

Old-school Star Wars fans will recognize the name Rukh, and who that character is, as well as why he matters to the story of Thrawn (Warning: Spoilers if you decide to search that out yourself).

Filoni did have another surprise for fans of The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. During the panel, he changed his “Ahsoka Lives?” shirt to “Ahsoka Lives!”

Filoni also promised the crowd in attendance and watching at home via live-stream, that the end of Star Wars Rebels would by no means be the end of what his team was doing with Star Wars animated series going forward.

I, for one, will miss Star Wars Rebels, when it finally ends, but am also extremely excited for the next chapter of Star Wars animation from the Lucasfilm Story Group.
