Star Wars Rebels will enter its final season this fall with season 4, and when it does, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will heavily influence the overarching story….
When Star Wars Rebels executive producer Dave Filoni announced at this year’s Star Wars Celebration that season 4 of the animated hit show would be its last, many fans wondered how the story of the crew of the Ghost would be summed up, especially since the ship itself and some of its members were in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Filoni recently spoke to IGN about the Star Wars Rebels ending and how it would intertwine with Rogue One. He mentions how the crew can now start to go to different Rebel bases like the iconic Yavin base from both Rogue One and A New Hope, and how the look of Rebels will start to feel like the films.
"So they’re redistributed into Mon Mothma’s group on Yavin and Dodonna’s group. You see a restructuring of certain cells, and certain cells get destroyed. And that’s true of the ships as well. So there’s lots of little, neat, detail level things that happen when our characters are heading into season 4 and are absorbed into the kind of pre-Rogue One era, which I thought they did beautifully in the film."
That certainly is exciting, especially for someone who has watched Star Wars Rebels from the very beginning. I must admit, at first, I felt as if Rebels was a bit too childish for an adult pallet, and maybe the Disney XD advertising probably didn’t help, but the deeper the storytelling went, the more I appreciated Dave Filoni’s vision for the extension of The Clone Wars‘ story.
And ultimately, that’s what Star Wars Rebels has been: An extension of The Clone Wars story in the best possible way told through the adventures of a Jedi Knight and his powerful apprentice. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
