Report: Japanese Star Wars: The Last Jedi leaflet promises a shocking reveal in the movie

An alleged Japanese leaflet for Star Wars: The Last Jedi declares that the upcoming film will reveal a “shocking truth” greater than any we’ve seen in a Star Wars movie before.

SPOILER WARNING: The following article may contain spoilers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

According to a leaflet by Disney Japan, The Last Jedi is shaping up to be the most edge-of-your-seat Star Wars movie yet.

The leaflet was shared by a Cantina forum user and reported on by Star Wars News Net; you can see a photo of it on their website (via Screenrant). The text in the leaflet is almost entirely in Japanese except for The Last Jedi‘s release date and a URL for Disney’s official Japanese website. I checked the URL out and it is legitimate, which means there is a good chance the leaflet is legitimate, as well.

According to the Cantina forum user’s translation of the text, the leaflet provides a bare minimum description of The Last Jedi‘s plot. Basically, it confirms that Luke Skywalker and Rey meet; questions where Kylo Ren’s “ambition” will take him next; and reveals that General Leia accompanies Poe Dameron, Finn and BB-8 on a mission. Given some of the reports we’ve heard and what we saw in The Force Awakens, none of these plot details is a surprise.

What is a surprise is the line at the end of the leaflet which says, “Be ready for the shocking truth surpassing the previous stories!” Apparently, The Last Jedi will reveal something which Disney’s Japanese affiliates think is more dramatic than the “I am your father” speech in The Empire Strikes Back. This “shocking truth” could be any number of things: Rey being a Skywalker or a Kenobi, Snoke being Plagueis, Luke turning to the dark side, or any wild idea you can think of. Just thinking about what the truth could be, makes me even more excited to see The Last Jedi in December.

Of course, there is no way to confirm that this leaflet is legitimate based off the photo alone. But everything it says lines up with what we have heard about The Last Jedi so far. So prepare to be shocked when you enter the theater to see the movie on December 15, 2017.
