On July 18, 2017, the Mouse is sending their latest Star Wars movie, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, to Netflix’s streaming services.
Thanks to a heads-up by Coffee with Kenobi, we now know that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will soon hit Netflix’s streaming service.
Rogue One was one of the movies shown in Netflix’s “New to Netflix” July 2017 video. Netflix uploads a similar video each month to preview the new additions coming to their service in a few weeks.

It’s no surprise Rogue One is finally making it to Netflix. In 2016, Disney made a deal with the streaming service to stream the Mouse’s newest films. In June 2017, for example, Netflix started streaming Disney’s Moana (2016). The deal also encompasses all of the films under Disney’s domain, including those films produced by Lucasfilm. It was only a matter of time, then, before Netflix added Rogue One to their library.
Don’t expect to see The Force Awakens on Netflix anytime soon, however. That film is part of a contract Disney made with Starz which granted Starz exclusive streaming rights to it. For now, you can watch The Clone Wars CG-animated series and its accompanying film to satisfy your hunger for Star Wars on-screen content. Then, on July 18, you can watch Rogue One in all its glory.
