The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson will be at D23
The 2017 D23 Expo just got a whole lot more interesting as Rian Johnson has confirmed he will be in attendance…
Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson has confirmed via his official Twitter feed that he will, in fact, attend the 2017 D23 Disney Expo this weekend, July 14-16. We’ve long speculated that we might get an all-new trailer for The Last Jedi during D23, or at the very least, a behind the scenes video/sizzle reel.
And, now that Johnson is going to be there, we might actually get what we’ve all wanted since the first trailer aired in April — new footage from The Last Jedi.

If we do get new The Last Jedi footage at D23, it would be a major coup for the expo that hasn’t had a huge following, but took a huge chance by opening its doors a full week before the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con.
Of course, there has been no confirmation that there will be any new footage shown at D23, but with the chaos surrounding the untitled Star Wars: Han Solo project, Disney may want a big win by catching the eye of every nerd around the globe, by releasing a new trailer.
With Ron Howard now at the helm of Han Solo, we may very well get some sort of footage from that film, but, I highly doubt it. What we’re really hoping for (besides TLJ footage) is the name of the third Star Wars anthology.
