Read an excerpt from Battlefront II: Inferno Squad
StarWars.com has revealed an exclusive look at the new upcoming book, Battlefront II: Inferno Squad…
Star Wars Battlefront II: Inferno Squad, is an upcoming companion book for EA’s sequel video game to Star Wars Battlefront — Star Wars Battlefront II. The book will be released on July 25, through Penquine Random House, and StarWars.com has revealed an exclusive excerpt for fans to feast their eyes upon.
The book, written by Star Wars veteran author Christie Golden, is meant to be a prequel to the video game and is about an elite squad of Imperial Soldiers called Inferno Squad, and how they react and help the Emperor and the Empire following the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
In fact, Inferno Squad works to infiltrate Saw Gerrera’s group of extremist partisans who are still in action, even after his death on Jedha.
Here’s part of the excerpt revealed exclusively from the official Star Wars website.

"The girl smiled, and for a moment Seyn looked so young that Iden wanted to protect her more than she wanted to fight alongside her. She dismissed the thought. Seyn’s youth surely belied a lot of strength. Garrick Versio would never want anyone on “his team” who wasn’t strong. After all, they were the best of the best. That logical conclusion meant that the quiet Del Meeko also had something special to offer. And of course, Iden knew Gideon well enough to know how much he brought to the table.“Any other questions?” There were none. Versio nodded. “Dismissed.”The four got to their feet, saluted, and turned to go. At the door, though, Gideon hung back, considering, then asked his new commanding officer, “Sir? Does this unit have a name yet?The faintest of smiles quirked Versio’s lips. “It does,” he replied. “It’s a promise to the rebels.“It’s called Inferno Squad.”"
I love that we actually get a reason the for the Inferno Squad’s name, and I am overjoyed to see a novel about an Imperial Squad “striking back” as it were, against the good guys.
