John Boyega calls Rian Johnson’s vision for The Last Jedi  “crazy” and “different”

Rian Johnson will bring something much different to the Star Wars saga with The Last Jedi according to actor John Boyega…

Jon Boyega, who’s been very talkative of late with the media, caught up with Entertainment Weekly last week and talked about Rian Johnson —  the director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

"Rian had a chance to really go crazy, and I’m a big Star Wars buff so certain things I saw I was just like, Well, that’s a first, And that, for me, is really cool to experience."

Boyega says Johnson’s vision is bold and original for The Last Jedi, and that should really excite Star Wars fans.

The biggest criticism for The Force Awakens seemed to be that it was unoriginal and that J.J Abrams played it too safe.

Personally, I trust Boyega’s judgment. The actor is known for speaking his mind and being transparent, and I also believe The Last Jedi is going to be unlike any Star Wars movie we’ve ever seen. Mark Hamill has also stated that the film will be “unexpected,” in a recent interview.

Besides his work in film — with Brick and Looper –Johnson also wrote and directed a handful of Breaking Bad episodes, which are very much character driven scripts, building multiple layers of depth for those stories.

Depth, in my opinion, is what The Last Jedi needs to have in spades in order to take the sequel trilogy, and the franchise as a whole, to the next level.

Abrams laid the framework and set the tone for the new trilogy, while Johnson needs to dig deep into the characters, especially with Kylo Ren, Luke, and Rey.

We will for sure find out how shocking and innovative The Last Jedi is ourselves when it hits theaters December 15th, 2017.
