Lucasfilm Publishing Panel at New York Comic Con 2017…

The Lucasfilm Publishing Panel at New York Comic Con 2017 featured a slew of writers talking about some of their recently published and upcoming projects. These authors along with the new films are the new stewards of Star Wars, and they will be telling stories for a new generation of Star Wars fans.

Tidbits from the Lucasfilm Publishing Authors…

Lucasfilm Publishing has always delivered a diverse array of writers.  Elizabeth Wein is one of these diverse writers and her novel Cobalt Squadron will release in December.  Wein stated that she drew upon her own experiences as a pilot when writing the story.  She also spoke about how fun it was to write about the team dynamic of a bomber crew. Readers can purchase the title on December 15 and gain more insight into the events surrounding The Last Jedi.

The Star Wars: The Last Jedi novelization was also teased, but Author Jason Fry refused to give spoilers.  Fry did, however, talk of the impact watching Star Wars as an 8-year-old had on his life, with the film helping drive him towards writing.

With all the excitement building for the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi,  the Lucasfilm Publishing Panel delivered fans some exciting news of their own.  New releases from our favorite new canon writers are on the horizon:

Timothy Zahn made the biggest announcement of the panel. The long-time Star Wars novelist announced a sequel to his new canon Thrawn novel: Thrawn: Alliances the sequel will reportedly heavily feature Darth Vader. Readers can look for the book to be released sometime in summer of 2018.  Thrawn is one of the most beloved Legends characters, it will be exciting to see more of him within the new canon.

Adam Rex announced a new Star Wars children’s book, Are You Scared Darth Vader?  NextIDW announced a five-issue miniseries for Star Wars Forces of Destiny.  Lucasfilm will be focusing on younger readers and female readers. This will continue to be one of Lucasfilm’s main priorities, aiming to make the Star Wars Universe a place for all ages.
