What’s on the horizon for Star Wars films and TV?

With the recent announcement by Disney and Lucasfilm of a new Star Wars trilogy and TV series, it’s got us wondering what else is on the horizon…

In an unexpected, but a welcome move by Disney and Lucasfilm, we were greeted with exciting news on an upcoming Star Wars trilogy and TV series.

What we do know is that Rian Johnson will be in charge of the unknown trilogy, which is not going to be Skywalker focused. The TV series has, even more, mystery, which will hit a galaxy near us in 2019.

For now, all we can do is speculate on what else could be in store for us fans of a galaxy far, far away. Kylo Ren approves, so let’s dive right in.

Our predictions for upcoming films the next several years:

  • The Last Jedi: December 2017 (confirmed)
  • Solo: A Star Wars Story: May 2018 (confirmed)
  • Kenobi: A Star Wars Story: May 2019
  • Episode IX: December 2019 (confirmed)
  • Bounty Hunter film: May 2020
  • Knights of the Old Republic by Rian Johnson: December 2020
  • Yoda Origins: May 2021
  • Darth Bane by Ryan Johnson: December 2021
  • Vader film: May 2022
  • Knights of the Old Republic II: December 2022
  • Ahsoka live action by Dave Filoni: May 2023
  • Knights of the Old Republic III: December 2023

Now, that is quite the list isn’t it? Of course, those include more of what I want than what I think will come our way, but I can dream, right?

I would pay for Rian Johnson to make a Darth Bane film, one of my favorite Legends trilogy set of novels, period. Seeing Revan as the main character in KOTOR would be an item off of my bucket list, as well.

We are just getting started, with predictions on live action TV series we will see.

  • Adventures of Luke Skywalker and Ben Solo: Starring Sebastian Stan and Finn Wolfhard (from Stranger Things).
  • Palpatine Origins
  • Level 1313

More from Dork Side of the Force

We have the perfect young actors to portray Luke and Ben, so why not take advantage of that gift? Plus, we are all dying to see Luke in his prime and what lead to young Ben’s fall to the Dark Side.

Seeing Palpatine, based on some of the events from the Darth Plaguies novel would be epic. Getting some Dark Side training and learning more about Palpatine’s Master and former Sith of times past would be an excellent addition.

Level 1313 was in early development just a few years back, so why not use the original ideas and “script” from those?

Diving into the dirty depths within Coruscant, while staying away from mainstay characters would be a refreshing change of pace. Thank the Maker that Disney gave Lucasfilm this new breath life upon their acquisition.
