Adam Driver refuses to watch Star Wars: The Last Jedi?

Adam Driver is “undecided” whether he will watch The Last Jedi or not.

Adam Driver, known by most as Kylo Ren from Star Wars, is one who swims against the flow. He dances to the beat of his own drummer.

That trend continues, when Driver recently told Esquire that he is “undecided” if he will watch The Last Jedi.

Why in the Force would he refuse to watch this film? Did it not turn out the way he’d think? Or, was there some falling out with him and other members of the cast?

None of the above. The reasons Driver gives are ones that we all struggle with, at times. Self-criticism.

"I can’t just watch it objectively. I can’t watch it once. I have to watch it five times, you know? It’s just an obsessive loop I keep playing in my mind that I can’t get caught up in because it’s totally self-destructive and not helpful moving forward."

Adam Driver took a different approach with The Force Awakens, where he blended in with Star Wars fans, watching it amongst them.

The Force Awakens is the only movie I’ve sat with an audience and watched.

Driver’s wife didn’t even know of the bombshell dropped at the end of the film. You know, when his character Kylo Ren massacred one of the most beloved characters, not only in Star Wars but the history of cinema.

"I didn’t tell her anything about it. I didn’t tell her I kill Han Solo."

It’s easy to love Adam Driver and his willingness to be honest, open, and raw. Much like Kylo Ren.

We will see if Rian Johnson can take an already complex character and get Adam Driver to dig even deeper with Kylo Ren. The odds are in our favor that both Johnson and Driver knocked Kylo Ren’s new story arc out of the park.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15, worldwide. Will Adam Driver cave in and take the same approach he did with The Force Awakens? Or, will he refuse to watch the film, avoiding the “Dark Side” within himself that leads to “destruction” due to self-criticism?
