The Last Jedi to unseat Beauty and the Beast as top box office film of 2017
Star Wars: The Last Jedi will oust Beauty and the Beast as 2017’s top box office earner…
Hey, remember just last week when it was cool to say the Star Wars franchise was in trouble because The Last Jedi was an absolute box office disaster? Also, remember how people said it was the worst Star Wars film ever made and they would never go watch it again? Yeah, that happened. But as we reach the end of 2017, the sequel to The Force Awakens will unseat 2017’s juggernaut of a film, Beauty and the Beast, as the top box office earner for the year.

Now, let’s all take a long, refreshing drink of some green milk, and talk about this like adults, shall we?
The Last Jedi took in $27.6 million on Wednesday, December 27, bringing its box office total to $444.9 million, moving it to within $60 million of Beauty and the Beast, and it did this in just 13 days. Now with three days to go until the end of 2017, it appears as if the latest installment in the Star Wars saga will reign supreme at the box office. So much for rage-botting to tank the score of this winner.
According to Box Office Mojo, The Last Jedi currently sits in the fourth spot behind The Force Awakens, Rogue One, and The Phantom Menace for Star Wars films box office earnings, and I fully expect that to change within the next week. In fact, in the film continues to trend in this direction — up 55% on Christmas day — then it has an opportunity to finish right behind its predecessor, The Force Awakens.

Before it’s all said and done, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is projected to hit $1.6 billion. Yeah, the franchise is in real trouble, you guys (I wish you could see my sarcastic face).
