Legendary composer John Williams will continue to add to his Star Wars legacy by composing the theme for Solo: A Star Wars Story…

If you still aren’t sure if you’re going to like Solo: A Star Wars Story when it hits theaters in May, this year (2018), then perhaps this bit of news might help you get in the right frame of mind. Variety is reporting that John Williams will compose the theme for the film, working with composer John Powell on the film.

"The present plan is that I’m writing a theme for Han Solo, and John Powell is going to write the score, which he’ll do brilliantly."

While Williams confirmed that, while he is composing the theme for Solo, Powell is scoring the rest of the movie. Williams seems perfectly happy to be adding his input in the standalone film, saying Powell will “write all the rest of the themes and all of the other material, which I’m going to be very anxious to hear.”

It’s great to know that Williams will masterfully weave his music into yet another Star Wars film, and will hopefully bring on board those fans who have been less than happy that Lucasfilm recast the role of Han Solo from Harrison Ford to Alden Ehrenreich for the smuggler’s origin story.

Speaking of Solo: A Star Wars Story, director Ron Howard tweeted a photo of what appears to be Han’s hands on the steering wheel of a speeder, as he wished everyone a happy new year.

So, Han will drive the Batmobile in the movie? Sold. Finally, there is a rumor that we’ll see the first teaser trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story on January 7. If true, then we’ll move directly from The Last Jedi, into the excitement of another Star Wars film premiering in just five months.
