So, we’re going to do a little bit of a Star Wars, Flashback Friday today!
Remember that time that Star Wars legend Luke Skywalker, Mark Hamill himself, went on SNL and charmed the world with his humor and his impressions? Well, me neither because I was like seven years old when that happened, and I’m pretty sure my parents didn’t let me watch SNL at that age.
However, I did discover this delightful video thanks to the wonders of YouTube.
So, the premise of this skit is that Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan are hosts of a show on a shopping network. Their particular shop sells odd collectibles – things like Jawa ashtrays and Star Wars baseball cards (including a depiction of Chewie as a 2nd baseman for the Milwaukee Brewers).

Well, for this particular episode of their show they’ve procured a very, very special piece of Star Wars memorabilia: Mark Hamill himself! Apparently, they kidnapped him and are going to auction him off on their show for 80,000 dollars (what a steal!).
Oh, and by the way, they’ve dresses Hamill in a Karate-gi in lieu of Jedi robes which is amusing.
Anyway, the phone starts ringing off the hook (I mean who wouldn’t want Mark Hamill at their constant disposal?!). Callers ask Mark Hamill to reproduce various lines from the movie – none of which were actually Mark Hamill’s original lines – to verify that he is, in fact, the authentic Mark Hamill.
We get to hear Luke’s Darth Vader impression – which is pretty impressive. Another caller asks him to imitate the Fonz (what? Why?) and he does so quite well. It’s no surprise that Mark Hamill does some fantastic imitations as he is one of the best voice actors of all time.

Anyway, the video ends with Harrison Ford (not the real Harrison Ford) calling in and buying Mark Hamill. It’s pretty funny! If you’re feeling nostalgic or just need a good Flashback Friday giggle, you should give the video a watch and let us know what you think of it in the comments!
