Solo: A Star Wars Story will be referenced in Deadpool 2

Marvel’s sassiest, rogue superhero, Deadpool, may be providing a few jokes about Lucasfilm’s upcoming film Solo: A Star Wars Story and I’m pretty sure it’s going to be awesome…

There are so many fantastic movies coming out in the next couple of months; I’m fairly certain that I will be spending all of my time and money at the movie theater. Of course, the film I’m most excited about is Solo: A Star Wars Story.

However, another one of the movies I’m excited about is Deadpool 2. I know, it’s shocking that I, a Co-Expert at Dork Side of the Force watch anything but Star Wars day in and day out. Perhaps some of you are thinking “This woman is a traitor.” Alas, I wear many hats, and while Star Wars is my true love, I do dabble in other nerdy franchises.

I’m also sure you’re wondering why I’m talking about Deadpool 2 on a Star Wars website. Well, let me tell you. Apparently, Deadpool, a superhero famous for breaking the fourth wall and sassy pop culture references (as well as gratuitous violence and profanity…he’s not a clean-cut Captain America kind of superhero), will most likely be taking a few cracks at the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story due to the fact that Deadpool 2’s release date falls right between the release dates of the new Avengers film and Solo: A Star Wars Story.

More from Dork Side of the Force

When asked about whether or not Deadpool 2 would mention the fact that Deadpool 2 is coming out right between Avengers: Infinity War and Solo: A Star Wars Story, Deadpool 2 director David Leitch told Fandango:

"“[Laughs] I think we might have a couple comments in the film. That would be fun for people to hear those jokes. They’re definitely fresh and timely when they come up.”"

Knowing Deadpool, whatever commentary he provides for Solo: A Star Wars Story will be incisive and brutal. So, perhaps this would be an excellent movie to see for those who aren’t excited about the upcoming Solo film. It may be a cathartic experience to hear someone give the smuggler a taste of his own sassy medicine.

I for one, expect to hear him mock the Kessel Run at least once and say something comparing Alden Ehrenreich and Harrison Ford. It’ll be interesting to see what parts of the Han Solo lore and the upcoming film Deadpool 2 decide to comment on.

Next: Solo tickets on sale in select locations, or so they claim

Deadpool 2 opens a mere week before Solo: A Star Wars Story, which is a pretty ballsy move, but I’d expect nothing less from Deadpool. Solo: A Star Wars Story premieres May 25, 2018! So, make sure to get your tickets!
