The Last Jedi Blu-Ray is leading sales for 2018; Perhaps it’s not that bad
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the top-selling Blu-Ray of 2018 so far – perhaps it’s not as bad some would make you think.
In one of those bits of news that makes you think, it’s reported that Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the top-selling Blu-Ray of the year.
Yep, the movie that caused a fracture in the Star Wars fan base, has been ridiculed by a vocal minority is not as unpopular as some would lead you to believe. The Last Jedi has sold more than three million units for nearly $70 million in 2018, surpassing Black Panther and Thor: Ragnarok in Blu-Ray sales, according to The Numbers. Add in DVD sales, and it’s still on top with nearly $85 million on consumer spending.
These figures are important and interesting because of the backlash The Last Jedi received from a portion of the fanbase. They made you think the movie wasn’t good and worth the time. However, it seems there are many people who thought the movie was so good, they wanted to own for their collection.

Lucasfilm has another Blu-Ray coming out later this month when Solo: A Star Wars Story comes out on September 25 (with the digital release on September 14).
In the box office, Solo only brought in $213 million in domestic sales – almost $400 million worldwide – which is a disappointment by Disney’s standards. It will be really interesting to see how the Blu-Ray sales line up for Solo considering there was an apparent boycott over the movie while in theaters, which many are claiming added to its soft-ish numbers.
Either way, The Last Jedi certainly doesn’t seem as hated as some would lead to believe. Instead, Star Wars fans enjoyed it in the theatre, are enjoying at home, and will enjoy Episode IX when it comes next year.
We’re looking forward to see those Solo: A Star Wars Story sales number and perhaps if it sees a similar bump.
