Jon Favreau reveals name and premise for live-action Star Wars series

Star Wars producer took to his personal Instagram to reveal the title for The Mandalorian. Jon Favreau also gave hints as to the nature of the story.
Exciting news is breaking tonight regarding the title for Jon Favreau’s hitherto unnamed live action Star Wars series! Over on his personal instagram the producer dropped not only the title but a brief text crawl for The Mandalorian. Check the image below!
For those who can’t view the image the name and premise reads as follows:
"The MandalorianAfter the Stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic…"
This submission from Favreau seemingly confirms what we here at Dork Side of the Force speculated about a month back – that the series would have a focus on Mandalorians and even the planet Mandalore itself. This announcement refines that speculation to focus the core of the show on a titular single Mandalorian. Though, likely, the series will expand to have the planetary namesake included.
There has been a glut of rumors and speculation regarding The Mandalorian as of late. Our friends over at Making Star Wars released a series of set photos, and speculated that beloved Lucasfilm animation maestro Dave Filoni would be making a few appearances as a director. Likewise, Jon Favreau released a photo of the two of them together, that would seem to lend credence to the rumor that they are collaborating.
With the recent casting rumor of Pedro Pascal as a lead, and this wonderful descriptive bit of text, we can begin to image a riveting tale of gun fights, cantinas, and desert vistas out on the edge of the galaxy.
