The Mandalorian: What Star Wars characters could appear in the live-action show?

The hype around The Mandalorian has been building. While new faces will be aplenty, which familiar characters might pop up in Jon Favreau’s upcoming show?

The main character of The Mandalorian remains mysterious. Does he have ties to the Fetts? Who’s his vendetta with? Hopefully, we’ll be getting those answers soon.

I haven’t been this excited for Star Wars in quite some time. After The Last Jedi kind of let me down, Solo lifted my spirits to another level. Then, The Clone Wars revival was announced. However, it was The Mandalorian that really captured my imagination.

One character that could appear in The Mandalorian is Sabine Wren. Considering the show’s title, a Sabine appearance is quite possible. But who else could show up?

Let’s run through them.

*I’m not going to include Han, Luke, or Leia. I don’t know about you, but something tells me that Harrison Ford wouldn’t be up for this kind of thing.

Boba Fett

Again, it’s The Mandalorian. I know Boba “died” in Return of the Jedi, but I’ve always held out hope the bounty hunter might resurface. The question is, how would he come about in this show?

After climbing out of the Sarlacc Pit, there’s no way Boba would’ve gone back to Vader. Jabba was already dead, so that was out of the question. Still, part of me thinks he could be wandering around somewhere, picking up jobs where he can get them. Perhaps he runs into our protagonist somewhere along the line?

Grand Admiral Thrawn

When stormtroopers were spotted on the set of The Mandalorian, I speculated they might be working for Thrawn. Mostly, I want some form of the Thrawn trilogy represented in live-action. We got a small sample size of it in Rebels, but hopefully Favreau gives us a little more.

Imagine Thrawn finding the cloning facilities like he did in Tim Zahn’s books. The clones become a problem for the protagonist somehow, while Thrawn begins to get annoyed with our hero’s interfering. I like the sound of that.

Maz Kanata

Maz seems like she knows the underworld. We already know motion-capture characters are appearing in The Mandalorian, so the odds of Lupita Nyong’o reprising her role aren’t terrible.

Much like Han and Rey went looking for Maz in The Force Awakens, our protagonist might make a visit in her cantina.

Lando is finally returning for Episode IX and he might have had an unexpected appearance during the early episodes of Rebels. I really thought the “master code breaker” in The Last Jedi was going to be Lando.

Evidently, it was too good to be true. Still, I’d like to know what the scoundrel was up to following Return of the Jedi. If Lando does indeed appear, it seems unlikely that we’d get those answers before Episode IX.

I can see Lando running into the main character. Both men realize that they have a common enemy (Thrawn?), and decide to team-up. The real question is, if Lando were to show up, who would play him? It’d have to be Billy Dee Williams, right? Or maybe the just make Donald Glover look 30 years older. Hopefully, we’ll see.

Which characters would you like to see in The Mandalorian? Let us know in the comments.
