Billie Lourd has read the Star Wars: Episode IX script and has called it “magical,” making us even more excited – and calmer – for the upcoming movie.
If there was one person whose opinion on Star Wars: Episode IX matters, Billie Lourd would be high on that list.
Carrie Fisher’s daughter has read the Episode IX script and has called it “magical.”
That’s the perfect word to describe the movie to build up excitement for Star Wars fans. There is a lot at stake when it comes to Fisher since the Star Wars icon died before The Last Jedi came out. We know she will appear in Episode IX, but getting her daughter’s blessing makes me feel J.J. Abrams and company have gotten it right.
Lourd, who plays Lieutenant Connix in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, told Entertainment Weekly:
"“I gotta watch myself because the Star Wars PD is going to come get me, but it is incredible. I’ve read the script and I’ve been on set. I was on set for, like, three weeks back in September, and it is going to be magical. I can’t say much more, but I’m so excited about it and so grateful to be a part of it. Star Wars is my heart. I love it.”"
Skeptics might think, well what else is she supposed to say? But Lourd could have actually said nothing at all or gave a more canned answer. That’s easier than trying to make something up that may not fit with your actual ideal.

But with this Star Wars movie, these comments actually have me excited that there will be a fitting tribute and conclusion to the Skywalker Saga and Carrie Fisher. For as much as the characters and actors have defined our fandom, this movie probably means so much more to Lourd, who grew up with the films meaning so much to her and her family.
Fisher will be on everyone’s mind when Star Wars: Episode IX comes out next December. Disney confirmed in July, Fisher would be in it and Abrams said that she would do so from past footage.
Fisher is the heart of Star Wars, bringing fight, love and compassion to the story.
Magicial is how we would describe Fisher, and it’s apt that’s how her daughter describes the movie.
Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled to come out in December 2019.
