The Mandalorian: The rumor is true! IG-88 confirmed for upcoming live-action series
Jon Favreau has confirmed that the fan-favorite bounty hunter will appear in the show.
Jon Favreau gave Star Wars fans a Christmas surprise by confirming IG-88 will appear in his upcoming live-action series, The Mandalorian.
The news comes shortly after rumors surfaced of Bossk and IG-88 appearing in the show. On Instagram, the reveal was welcomed with open arms by fans. The more bounty hunters, the better.

Ever since we saw him in the famous bounty hunter lineup in The Empire Strikes Back, IG-88 has been a favorite among fans. The dude is just cool to look at – a droid bounty hunter. Literally built to kill, kind of the less deadly Star Wars version of the Terminator.
Right now, it’s unclear how big of a role that IG-88 will play in The Mandalorian. To be honest, I don’t care – I’m just glad to know that some familiar faces will show up. If he’s a big player, awesome. If he’s not, fine. To me, bounty hunters are one of the best parts of the whole Star Wars universe, so let’s just get as many of them in here as we can.
Now that IG-88 has been confirmed, hopefully it’s just a matter of time before the same can be said for Bossk. Still, it seems like the Rancor in the room is whether Boba Fett will make an appearance in the show. My guess would be no, but that’s just me going off the premise that Favreau gave us a few months back:
"After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic…."
I’m not getting a lot of Fett vibes from that. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t be opposed to a Fett cameo or something more than that, but it really feels like Favreau’s wanting to push forward with the protagonist’s story without going too far into stuff from the past. But hey, with Pedro Pascal in the lead role, who can blame him?
The reveal of IG-88 is just another brilliant move for what’s shaping up to be the best Star Wars show since The Clone Wars.
