COVER REVEAL: Galaxy’s Edge: Black Spire brings back a familiar face

Who’s that on the cover of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge: Black Spire? She might seem familiar if you read Phasma.

Vi is back!

The popular Resistance spy brought to life in Phasma is coming back in the novel Galaxy’s Edge: Black Spire, which is due out in August. Today, Del Rey books released the stunning cover featuring Vi and a few stormtroopers.

With the Resistance in need of allies, General Leia Organa has sent out her spies to find what she needs. It seems Vi finds that and more on Batuu.

More from Star Wars Books

While the story itself should be compelling to Star Wars fans – because it will also give insight into what’s going on in the galaxy before Episode IX, the book is also a tie-in for the upcoming Disney theme park Galaxy’s Edge.

I’m all for books – my love of reading has been noted more than once – but this is a straight marketing ploy to bring attention and expand the content around the theme park.

We’ve seen Batuu before, including Black Spire Outpost. It was featured in Thrawn: Alliances. Disney has a way of tying things together even if the bow isn’t done so neatly. This is just another example of that.

That’s not to say I won’t read the book. Of course, I will read the upcoming novel. It’s also great to have Vi back and have her own story where she’s the central character. Vi was someone fans enjoyed from Phasma, but she wasn’t the story, just part of it.

When it comes to Episode IX, the book will also show how the Resistance is finding allies and supplies because when we last saw them, their numbers had dwindled. It will give some insight into just what the Resistance was up to since the ending of The Last Jedi.

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge: Black Spire is scheduled to come out August 27.
