Star Wars: New Sith Trooper leaks raise major questions about The Rise of Skywalker
By Callum Gunn
More details about the new Sith Trooper have been revealed, but instead of giving us answers they have left us with more questions about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Personally, I think leaks are great … most of the time; in this case, however, it’s frustrating. In case you missed out on the news, the Sith Trooper was revealed and confirmed for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and were featured at SDCC.
Rumors and leaks about a Red Stormtooper featuring in the upcoming movie had surfaced on more than one occasion prior to the announcement, so it was great to hear that they were going to feature.
We now have more details about them thanks to Making Star Wars, however, it has left me with a ton of new questions rather than any answers. You can read the full report about the new character right here; but here are the highlights.

- For the past 30 years, since the Emperor’s death, they have been in the “unknown regions” of space.
- They are part of a massive fleet, which is hidden away.
- The fleet have been fighting for survival, waiting to be found.
- They possess Death Star technology.
- Kylo Ren will attempt to find them and take control of the fleet and the Sith Troopers.
- Their loyalty is with the Emperor, so Kylo’s plan of using them is likely to fail.
This all does sound really cool. Especially the part about the “unknown regions” because it ties into the story lines involving Grand Admiral Thrawn. The latest novel by Timothy Zahn ended with the speculation that the enemy Thrawn and the Chiss Ascendancy faced, The Grysks, are going to be the next big bad when it comes to the next Star Wars trilogy.
Of course, Thrawn has been MIA since Star Wars: Rebels, but there is the idea his floating around in the “unknown regions.” So, with the Sith Troopers being out there, maybe this is how Thrawn is brought back into the picture.

But, there are still some questions needing answered. Such as, why the heck is the Sith Trooper armor the same as the First Order Stormtrooper, aside from the color of course, if they are part of the Empire?
Another big one is how have they survived for so long? They have been gone for thirty years if the leak is true. There is no way they had enough supplies aboard the fleet that long. So, did they ravage worlds for supplies or were they able to be self sustainable aboard their ships? Basically, how did they replenish food and water?
All of the above be answered in theory. The First Order Stormtroopers actually copied the armor of the Sith Trooper fr example. Food could be grown aboard their ships and water could be harnessed from gasses. Something like that.
One question that is not so easily explained though is how would the replenish themselves. Think about it for a moment. When they left, 30 years ago they would have been young, but not now. Those who didn’t die during skirmishes in the unknown regions would be much older now, so not effective soldiers anymore. So how are they replenishing there numbers from those lost in battle and those who are just too old?
Hopefully answers will be given, if not before The Rise of Skywalker at least during. In all fairness, it’s not a huge deal if they don’t, we can make something up ourselves, but it is little details like that that make a movie truly stand out from being average, to amazing.
