Everything we know about the Cassian Andor Disney+ series (so far)
By Meg Dowell
Cassian didn’t say we had to tell you about his upcoming Disney+ show, but we’re going to do it anyway. Here’s waht we know on the Star Wars series.
Lucasfilm is developing another Star Wars series for Disney+ — this one starring Cassian Andor (Diego Luna).
We’ve known about this untitled series for a while now. But Kathleen Kennedy revealed a few new details at D23, including when and where the series will begin production.
The Rogue One prequel will be a “spy thriller” featuring at least one known secret agent (if you want to call them that) of the Rebellion.
Luna will reprise his role as Cassian Andor, as will Alan Tudyk (the sarcastic, potentially lethal yet lovable droid K2-SO).
Cassian is a member of the Rebel Alliance’s network of undercover informants who go by the name Fulcrum. One of the best-known and most beloved of this network is none other than Ahsoka Tano.
Does this mean we will see a live-action Ahsoka in the show? That would depend on the exact timing of the series. But it’s possible there will be other appearances from well-known characters — maybe Bail Organa? (PLEASE?)
We still don’t know when the series will premiere on Disney+. However, we did learn production will begin in London sometime in 2020 (maybe around the same time as the upcoming Kenobi series? Hmmm …) which likely means we’ll see the first episode in early 2021.
Don’t worry — we’ll have plenty to watch (and rewatch) while we wait. The final season of The Clone Wars premieres in February 2020. The Mandalorian hits Disney+ at launch on November 12. And there will be plenty of Star Wars content available to stream by the end of 2019.
What’s the first Star Wars show or movie you’re going to stream on Disney+? Let us know which shows you are most (and least) excited about.
