Star Wars: New The Rise of Skywalker Funko Pops! adds Dark Rey to the lineup
Needed more Dark Rey in your life? Funko Pop! has you covered with newly released Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker figures.
So, Dark Rey is a real thing.
We saw a glimpse of her in the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker D23 trailer and fans flipped out. Rey walks into a cave-like area with a hood over her heard and a double-bladed red lightsaber in hand. The hinge then swings open reminding us of Darth Maul’s weapon.
That moment lasted just mere seconds and yet it’s one of the things fans are wondering about for the upcoming movie. Funko added fuel to that fire by releasing a look at new Pops! Coming from Episode IX, which included a Dark Rey figure.

While I didn’t consider we would get toys and figures of Dark Rey, I should have known better. You can’t pass up that type of marketing opportunity.
Other Funko Pops! that were announced included C-3PO with red eyes, a slew of Knights of Ren, and a number of Funko mystery mini figures all for The Rise of Skywalker.
Adding Dark Rey to that collection makes me wonder if there is more to the character than perhaps a vision or dream. With Funko, there is no way to know. It can and will create as many variations of a character it can.
If Dark Rey is just a vision that lasts just a few minutes in the film, it might seem odd to create a collectible off of that. Yet, if you look at what Funko has done with other Star Wars scenes, it doesn’t seem that far off.
In the Smuggler’s Bounty collector box, it created the scene from The Empire Strikes Back where Luke sees a vision of himself with Darth Vader’s helmet in while on Dagobah. It could be a similar concept and Funko went all in with it.
Either way, the Pop! Funko figures are super cute. If you plan on picking any up, I hope you have plenty of shelf space.
