A Star Wars fans sets up a GoFund Me page to support Adam Driver’s Arts in the Armed Forces foundation.
A Star Wars has set up a GoFund Me campaign to support Adam Driver’s Arts in the Armed Forces charity as a way to thank him for his performance in the sequel trilogy.
The donation page has the following description:
"Adam Driver’s portrayal of Kylo Ren/Ben Solo has been one of the greatest things to ever happen in the last three movies of the Star Wars saga.As a way of showing gratitude and appreciation for his hard work, we at the Reddit subreddit /StarWarsLeaks have decided to set up this fundraiser. We know how passionate Adam is about AITAF and hope this feels like a “thank you” hug to him."

This gesture from the Reddit user didn’t surprise me in the least. Adam Driver is extremely popular not only for his role as Kylo Ren/Ben Solo but for being a generous person dedicated to his art and dedicated to supporting the armed forces. Fans around the globe have donated to the fundraiser with the total goal of $15,000.00 being awarded to the AITAF foundation that was formed by Adam Driver and his wife, Joanne Tucker.
I reached out to the organiser of the GoFundMe fundraiser known only as “Matt the Radar Technician” on Reddit for comment and this is what they had to say:
“I hadn’t watched The Rise of Skywalker yet when I set up the fundraiser. However, I must say I was heavily spoiled. So I knew Ben Solo’s fate in the movie. Also, I had just seen a Reddit post about an interview Adam Driver gave and that post mentioned AITAF’s fundraising goals. I was also heavily inspired by u/elle_ellaria’s massive campaign for Emilia Clarke’s charity”.
As of writing, the GoFundMe goal has now been pushed to $25,000.00 and will be pushed further to $31,000.00 if the previous goal is reached. The goal of $31,000.00 was decided upon because this was “AITAF’s original fundraising goal for the 2020 fiscal year”. If the amount of $31,000.00 is reached, this will award AITAF with their entire fundraising goal for 2020 which is just an amazing feat!
There is quite a lot of negativity going on in the fandom right now with regards to the way fans feel about Kylo Ren and Ben solo in The Rise of Skywalker. I won’t be posting any spoilers or links to that discussion because it’s pretty easy to find. Just go to any social media app or search on Google.
What I will say is that despite the negativity, this is one aspect of the fandom that I can support and get behind. This is something positive to come out of the final film that is worth considering if you’re a fan of Adam Driver or the characters that he portrays.
