Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was announced last year with a release date set for sometime during 2020, but an official date is still not set.

Fans have long awaited the return of a series that began all the way back in 2005.  Since then, the LEGO Star Wars franchise has released multiple sequels that included the original trilogy, the Clone Wars and most recently, The Force Awakens.

The Skywalker Saga is set to include all nine episodes of the now complete story of the Skywalker family. Yet, four months into the new year, and nine months since the game was officially announced, there is still no official word on a specific release date.

More from Lego Star Wars

This could be due to a number of reasons. The obvious one being the recent outbreak of COVID-19 has already delayed dozens of media projects including multiple movies and video games and LEGO Star Wars could fall under that category.

Of course, there is also a possibility there has been no delay at all and Star Wars is doing what they do best; keeping fans waiting as long as possible before the big reveal.

If in fact there is no delay, it may be in TT Games’ best interests to release the game sooner rather than later.

Because of the previously mentioned COVID-19 situation, many fans may find themselves with a lot more free time on their hands. Releasing the game early would give those fans something to enjoy during a time of uncertainty and provide fans a sense of excitement and hope when it is most needed.

There is little doubt that when the game eventually does release, it will likely be a major hit among fans of all ages.
