Jedi Master Plo Koon. Long-time council member, piloting ace and responsible for bringing Ahsoka Tano to the Jedi temple. Despite all of his accomplishments, the noble Jedi ultimately met his demise. But how?

Firstly, some background on the character. Originally appearing in The Phantom Menace back in 1999, Plo Koon is a Kel Dor from the world of Dorin. His most notable feature is his use of a masked filter that he must wear on the majority of civilized worlds due to his species’ inability to breathe oxygen.

While Master Plo had no lines in the prequel trilogy (of which he was in all three), he made several voiced appearances in the animated series The Clone Wars. He notably took part in the hunt for Boba Fett, who was undertaking a quest of revenge against Plo’s fellow Jedi Council member Mace Windu.

The Jedi master also had a strong bond with Anakin Skywalker’s apprentice, Ahsoka Tano, who Plo found as a child on her homeworld. The two would share a strong bond as Jedi.

How did Jedi Master Plo Koon meet his end?

Plo Koon’s greatest talent as a Jedi was his piloting abilities, second perhaps only to Skywalker himself. The Jedi put his flying skills to use at the Battle of Cato Neimoidia, the capital world of the Trade Federation.

It was here, at the very end of the Clone Wars, that the Jedi would face his doom. Caught off guard by the sudden betrayal of his own clone troopers, Master Plo was shot down in his starfighter ship mid-flight. Plo Koon would be one of many thousands of Jedi to perish at the hand of clones following Order 66.

Following this massacre, only a few Jedi would survive and go into hiding. Among them, the wayward apprentice Ahsoka Tano, his long-time friend.
