In season 2 of the hit Disney+ series The Mandalorian, fans were treated to seeing some old favorites return to life on the small screen. Boba Fett was basically back from the dead and Ahsoka Tano made her live-action debut. But what are the chances of similar guest appearances?
Since first appearing in The Phantom Menace, Darth Maul has been a fan favorite with his iconic double-bladed lightsaber and devilish appearance. The character made a return in the animated series The Clone Wars and was a major character in Star Wars Rebels as well.
It was in the later series that the wayward Sith apprentice met his end at the hands of the long-time rival Obi-Wan Kenobi after learning that he was on Tatooine, acting as the guardian for the young Luke Skywalker.
Will the deadly Sith warrior Maul make an appearance in The Mandalorian?
The Mandalorian takes place over a decade after this event. Seeing as the show has thus far kept to a chronological sequence, it seems unlikely that the deadly Zabrak will be making an appearance. However, the Force works in mysterious ways.
It must be remembered that Maul himself was once the sovereign of Mandalore and thus temporality held dominion over all traditional Mandalorians. While there was resistance to his rule, his stewardship of the legendary Darksaber solidifies the dark warrior’s place in Mandalorian history.
Two characters appearing in The Mandalorian have battled Maul, those being Bo-Katan Kryze and Ahsoka Tano. The Sith apprentice has no doubt left an impact on the pair, just as he has on all Mandalorian people.
While Maul may not appear in The Mandalorian, there is always the possibility of him being referenced by those he has left his mark on.
