Warning: This article contains spoilers from Obi-Wan Kenobi Episodes 4.
The link between different Star Wars projects seems to be getting stronger with every episode. Whether it be through the T-47 Snowspeeders or the Grand Inquisitor from Star Wars: Rebels, Obi-Wan Kenobi seems to be treating Star Wars projects as a checklist for cameos and easter eggs. In the latest episode, we have even seen the Fortress Inquisitorius and the Purge troopers that came right out of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen. With timelines as ‘coincidentally’ aligned as they are, it seems that Cal Kestis has a good chance to appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi.
To further specify the timeline we know that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order happens five years after the events of Order 66, and the first episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi happens ten years after Order 66. But in a news release from 2022’s Star Wars Celebration panel we have learned that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be set 10 years after Order 66. This opens up a whole new level of opportunities for cameos in Obi-Wan Kenobi. We could very well see Obi-Wan meet Cal Kestis as he travels the galaxy. And there are a few factors that make that occurrence even more likely than just some fan service.
Another factor is the fact that Cal Kestis’s voice actor, Cameron Monaghan, already has had a successful TV career and looks identical to his character. This would make his appearance as efficient as possible. We also see that Cal’s missions revolved around saving and working with younglings, which has caused some to theorize that he may have been involved in the creation of the path.
Taking all of these factors together it seems very possible for Cal to appear sometime inside of Obi-Wan Kenobi. While it may seem unlikely that Star Wars could have hidden this so effectively, the finale from The Mandalorian season 2 leaves me hopeful for a surprise appearance.
