As promised, a brand-new trailer for Star Wars: Andor, the next live-action Disney+ Star Wars series to premiere on the platform, went live this morning. From the music to the undercover work to Mon Mothma shining on all her much-deserved glory, the special look at the upcoming show did not disappoint.

One of the many surprises revealed in today’s trailer — though many hoped for and expected it — was the reappearance of Saw Gerrera.

Saw first appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars before Forest Whitaker portrayed him in live-action in 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The character also appeared in animated form again in Star Wars: Rebels, and will make his grand live-action return (played by Whitaker once again) in Andor.

The series has been described as a “spy thriller” in space, and this trailer confirms this twofold. Cassian’s voiceover talks about him infiltrating the Empire easily because Imperial forces don’t expect someone like him to end up behind their locked doors. But that doesn’t make his endeavors any less dangerous — for him or for the budding Rebel Alliance and its leaders.

This trailer is also proof that Mon Mothma is about to have her moment. The show will largely focus on her dealings in the five years leading up to Rogue One, one foot in the Imperial Senate playing the part of a “good” politician and the other doing everything she can to slowly begin bringing the Empire down. That single shot of her standing in front of the senate is a heartbreaking but important reminder of how everything Padmé stood for didn’t die with her at the end of Revenge of the Sith.

Star Wars: Andor will now premiere on its new date, September 21, exclusively on Disney+.
